Welcome to the 2nd Annual Il Festival di d'Arte Cinematografica di Assurdita' sponsored by The Hollywood Temp Diaries.  [Translation: it's a film festival.]  Il FACA celebrates artists who've made movies/short films but would rather buy groceries than pay another festival entry fee.  It's also for people who think story and acting triumph over explosions.

Got a movie you made in college that's sitting around?  Submit it.  Want an excuse to shoot something with the video camera you recently bought?  This is for you.  Here's your chance to show off your brilliance to your fellow hourly cogs.

Real Prizes & Perks!

The winners get prizes pilfered from my temp gigs (see below).  More importantly, all entrants can pad their resume by calling themselves a Selezione Ufficiale -- Festival di d'Arte Cinematografica di Assurdita'.  Hollywood execs are always impressed Italian-sounding stuff.  That's the only explanation for La Vita e' Bella winning three Oscars -- a movie best described as "Bozo the Clown visits Auschwitz."

You might get discovered! This site gets thousands of hits from all over Hollywood and was recently written up in the LA Times, Defamer and CNBC.  Some of these readers are probably important.

FAQs

How do I enter?

Post the video on YouTube, email me (tempx@tempdiaries.com) the link and/or embed code.  If you've got something on DVD, use Mac The Ripper or Handbrake.  That'll convert it into something that works on YouTube.  Don't send me the file.

When's the deadline?

How much is it to enter?

It's FREE.

Will there be an awards ceremony?

Maybe.  More info to follow.

Who picks the winners?

I do.

Best in Show, the winner of the coveted Va'Fanculo Hollywood -- Foglio della Presenze Dorato, receives Elvis: The Ed Sullivan Shows (a 3 DVD collection).  Additionally the winner receives a very rare DVD of  Viva Laughlin, the ill-fated CBS program that NY Times suggested "may well be...the worst show in the history of television."

Runner up prizes include Season 2 of The Office, the critically-acclaimed movie Wordplay and Catwoman (yes, that Catwoman).  All entrants get a certificate naming them Selezione Ufficiale.

What if someone likes my stuff?  How will they contact me?

All entries will have the entrant's name and email posted by their video unless you tell me otherwise.

Who won last year and are they famous yet?

Here's last year's winners.  The dude who came in third took his video down.  So the link is dead.
